DescriptionWe are offering a role for a Controller in the non-profit sector, based out of San Diego, California. The role primarily involves leading financial activities, ensuring the integrity of general ledger data, and managing vendor relationships. Responsibilities:--- Lead and execute month-end closing activities, ensuring the general ledger is consistently accurate and updated.--- Monitor cash requirements to ensure sufficient funds for payroll and other payments.--- Direct Contract Compliance and Vendor Management activities.--- Review significant estimate accounts such as bad debt allowance, sales return, and refunds accruals.--- Prepare and distribute user-friendly financial reports on a monthly and ad-hoc basis.--- Lead and mentor the Association Office accounting team.--- Create and review GL account analysis and reconciliations for various accounts.--- Manage the Association's Fund, Reserve, and Endowment accounting.--- Prepare accurate and timely annual IRS forms and other Federal, State, and local government filings.--- Serve as the liaison for the independent annual audit process, and oversee its preparation.--- Maintain detailed and organized records of all Association contracts, leases, capital pledges, deeds, and other legal documents.--- Manage the Association's employee credit card program, ensuring user compliance with rules and issuing new cards as needed.Requirements--- Proficient in auditing practices and principles--- Demonstrable experience in budget processes--- Knowledge of federal government contracts (OMB specific)--- Expertise in fund accounting within the non-profit sector--- Experience with system implementation--- Proficiency in NetSuite software--- Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills--- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills--- Ability to adhere to strict deadlines and handle multiple tasks--- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field--- CPA or relevant certification is highly desirable--- Previous experience in a similar role within the non-profit industry is preferred.
